The Game Awards 2025 delivered a packed night of surprise announcements, bold new reveals, and well-earned wins, once again proving why it’s gaming’s biggest stage. From fresh IPs to show-stopping world premieres, the event kept fans buzzing from start to finish. Here’s a quick look back at the moments and reveals that made this year’s ceremony truly stand out.

 

Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 was the big breakout star of The Game Awards 2025, dominating the ceremony with a historic haul of nine wins, including the night’s most coveted honour, Game of the Year. The indie RPG from Sandfall Interactive also took home awards for Best Game Direction, Best Narrative, Best Art Direction, Best Score and Music, Best Independent Game, Best Debut Indie Game, Best RPG, and Best Performance for Jennifer English, making it the most awarded title in the show’s history and a standout success story of the year.

 

Battlefield 6 captured Best Audio Design for its rich soundscapes, immersive effects, and technical excellence in audio implementation, elevating gameplay tension and realism.

 

Donkey Kong BananzaNintendo’s Donkey Kong Bananza won Best Family Game, delivering fun, accessible gameplay that appeals to players of all ages with its energetic charm and wide‑ranging appeal.

 

No Man’s Sky earned Best Ongoing Game, celebrating its long‑term evolution, consistent updates, and enduring community support that continued to expand its universe.

 

Hades II was crowned Best Action Game, recognised for its high‑octane combat, refined mechanics, and engaging run‑based experiences that thrilled players all year.

 

Final Fantasy Tactics: The Ivalice Chronicles won Best Sim/Strategy Game for its thoughtful tactical gameplay and rich strategic depth that stood out among the year’s nominations.

 

Mario Kart World took Best Sports/Racing Game, applauded for its exhilarating track design, charming characters, and polished racing mechanics.

 

Fatal Fury: City of the Wolves won Best Fighting Game, recognised for its deep mechanics and homage to classic fighters.

 

Doom: The Dark Ages was awarded Innovation in Accessibility for its forward‑thinking design and inclusive features that expanded access for players of all abilities.
