Discover amiibo, a brand new way to interact with your favourite Nintendo characters and games. amiibo are a series of Nintendo character toys that interact with multiple games on the Nintendo Wii U and 3DS consoles. Data on the chip will be transferred into the game and used in a range of ways. As you play, your figure's data will also be updated, so keep playing to make your amiibo unique!
Yoshis come in all sorts of colours, but Mario’s close buddy debuted in green. Kind-hearted, naturally protective of others, and perpetually hungry, Yoshi is always up for adventure, especially if there are snacks involved! Yoshis can flutter their legs to jump incredibly high. They also have extremely long tongues that they use to snare fruit and even enemies – anything they swallow gets turned into throwable eggs.
When an amiibo is placed on the GamePad, that character will be brought into the game. Players can either watch the character battle other characters, battle alongside the character, or battle against the character. The more the amiibo is played, the more it levels up, unlocking different moves, equipment, and customisation options. They will also level up faster when pitted against other amiibo fighters.
amiibo will go on sale at the launch of Super Smash Bros. for Wii U, with more characters set to be announced in 2015. Characters already announced include Mario, Link, Pikachu, Donkey Kong, and many more!
In addition to Super Smash Bros. for Wii U, you'll be able to use amiibo in a number of other games, and how they're used depends on the game. Additional compatible games include Mario Party 10 and Captain Toad: Treasure Tracker.
As well as working with the Nintendo Wii U, amiibo can also be used with Nintendo 3DS and 2DS consoles via an accessory that is planned for release in 2015. amiibo will also be compatible with the New Nintendo 3DS and 3DS XL.
In Super Smash Bros. for Wii U, you can transfer the data from your amiibo so it can appear in the game and fight for you. As your amiibo fights, it will develop its own unique attributes and skills, becoming stronger and learning new moves. You can even add your own twist to combat by customising special moves!
