Nintendo has delivered another packed Nintendo Direct, revealing a huge selection of games, updates and announcements coming to Nintendo Switch and Nintendo Switch 2.
The September 2026 presentation brought plenty of surprises, including a brand-new 2D Metroid adventure, a new free-roaming Kirby game, the long-awaited arrival of Monster Hunter Wilds on Switch 2 and a new look at several major third-party releases.
With games arriving throughout the rest of 2026 and into 2027, there was plenty to get excited about. Here’s everything announced during the September 2026 Nintendo Direct.
Metroid Ravenous
A brand-new 2D Metroid adventure is coming exclusively to Nintendo Switch 2 on 28 January 2027. It introduces a new survival-focused mechanic where Samus can consume enemies to survive.
Individual Samus and Chozo Statue amiibo figures will also be released at launch. A third amiibo, featuring Samus in the Metroid Suit, will be bundled with a Special Edition of the game, which includes the game and a steel game case.

Kirby and the World Beyond
Nintendo closed the Direct with a major new Kirby adventure. Unlike the traditional side-scrolling games, Kirby and the World Beyond is a free-roaming 3D adventure coming to Switch 2 in Spring 2027, coinciding with Kirby's 35th anniversary.
Monster Hunter Wilds
Capcom's huge action RPG is finally heading to Switch 2 on 4 December 2026. The expansion, Ascendance, also coming to Monster Hunter Wilds on Switch 2 in 2027. More information will be revealed soon.
Final Fantasy VII Revelation
The third and final entry in the Final Fantasy VII Remake trilogy was shown, with the Switch 2 version scheduled for 8 April 2027. Plus, get the Deluxe Edition for PS5 exclusive to The Game Collection which includes the base game, MTG Final Fantasy Promo card, reversible cover, soundtrack, artbook and steelbook case. Persona 4 Revival and Persona 6
Two highly anticipated Persona games are coming to Nintendo Switch 2, with Persona 6 and Persona 4 Revival both confirmed during the Nintendo Direct.
Persona 4 Revival, a remake of the beloved RPG, is set to launch on 20 May 2027 for Nintendo Switch 2. Meanwhile, Persona 6 will also be coming to Nintendo's latest console, although a release date has yet to be announced.
Fire Emblem: Fortune's Weave
A new trailer was featured in the presentation, showing off the upcoming Switch 2 game. The latest entry in the Fire Emblem series arrives on 17 September 2026, with an impressive Metascore of 89 on Metacritic!

Tomb Raider: Legacy of Atlantis
A new trailer for Tomb Raider adventure was also revealed for Nintendo Switch 2, releasing on 12 February 2027.

Mario Kart World Update
Nintendo also revealed a substantial free update for Mario Kart World, including new content and retro-inspired courses. Launched on 9th September 2026, the update adds 10 tracks from Super Mario Kart to VS Race, alongside new Knockout Tour routes and Spectator Mode.

Star Fox Update
Star Fox is also receiving a free update on 29 September, adding four-player split-screen battles, three new battle maps and support for four players online from a single console.

And that wasn't everything. Nintendo also revealed a number of other games and updates during the presentation, including Fatal Fury: City of the Wolves, Metal Slug Ultimate Collection, Yu-Gi-Oh! Tag Force GX, Romancing SaGa 3: Destinies United, Disney Dreamlight Valley – Nintendo Switch 2 Edition, LEGO Batman: Legacy of the Dark Knight and more.
With Nintendo Switch 2 continuing to build its library, September's Nintendo Direct gave players plenty to look forward to across the rest of 2026 and well into 2027. From the return of Metroid and Kirby to major third-party releases such as Monster Hunter Wilds and Final Fantasy VII Revelation, there’s something for all kinds of players on the way.
